If you’re looking for a cost-effective way of covering any event using smartphones for live video contribution, the Haivision MojoPro mobile camera app is the perfect solution. MojoPro sends live video over cellular networks to a Haivision StreamHub receiver, which can then integrate into the rest of your live production workflow.
Haivision StreamHub is now available on the AWS marketplace for use on a pay-as-you-go basis, making it easier than ever before to leverage MojoPro. The combined products make a great solution for anyone looking to cover live sports, breaking news, or any other event – whether you need a single camera for a few hours, or multiple cameras spanning multiple days or weeks.
What is MoJoPro?
MoJoPro is a professional camera app from Haivision that allows anyone with a smartphone to contribute high-quality content to live broadcast production workflows. It’s been used extensively by network journalists and freelancers covering breaking news, and more recently in high-profile sporting events.
MoJoPro can bond a phone’s 4G or 5G modem with WiFi or MiFi for more bandwidth and reliability using Haivision’s Emmy Award-winning SST technology. As a broadcast camera app, MoJoPro features advanced camera settings that can be remotely controlled. Designed to be integrated with live broadcast production workflows, it can also receive a return feed for real-time communication with the production studio.
How does MoJoPro work with StreamHub?
On the receiving end, Haivision StreamHub can take in one or more MoJoPro live video feeds. StreamHub can also transcode in real-time into different resolutions, bitrates, and codecs, and converts IP protocols to ensure downstream compatibility, whether for cloud or on-prem workflows.
For cloud production, StreamHub receives video from MoJoPro and outputs to SRT, NDI, RTMP, and other IP protocols used by cloud-based production platforms. Cloud StreamHub can also be used as part of an on-prem workflows, where it can act as a gateway and relay live video to on-prem StreamHub appliances leveraging SDI, ST 2110, and NDI outputs.
When it comes to broadcasting to social media platforms, StreamHub is the ideal solution as it can take MoJoPro video feeds and transcode them in either vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) modes and then stream with SRT, RTMP, and HLS.
How can I get started using MojoPro and StreamHub?
The first step is to download the Haivision MoJoPro smartphone app, which is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, for iOS and Android devices.
The next step is to head over to the AWS marketplace and spin up an instance of Haivision StreamHub with MoJoPro. This pay-as-you-go (PAYG) option includes both StreamHub and the MoJoPro license. It comes in three different capacities that provide differing amounts of inputs/outputs. Depending on your needs, you can choose between 4, 8, or 16 inputs and outputs – and each of these inputs can receive feeds from your freely downloaded MojoPro cameras.
Once your StreamHub instance on AWS is up and running, you can determine the IP address and enter it into the MoJoPro app to begin streaming live. It’s really that easy!
